The headline says it all, so this will be a quick post, but I do have a couple of pieces of extra info to include with that which you might find interesting.

Before that, if you have an existing Maximum Tune 5 arcade game, then you’ll want to jump on this kit asap – it is the kind of thing that MaxiTune players will be demanding from their venues. If you have an imported Maximum Tune though, it’s not for one of those, just the North American models released back in 2017.

Also of note, it’s not just the kit that Bandai Namco is releasing – they are making Maximum Tune 5DX+ available in dedicated form. So if you didn’t jump on the MT5 bandwagon, you can now. No, it doesn’t have the name that Mario Kart has, but it does have one of the most dedicated fanbases I’ve ever seen for an arcade racer, excepting maybe InitialD (granted, there’s a bit of crossover there). By my understanding, the upgrade kits are going to be available first, with dedicated units available shortly after that.

Maximum Tune 5DX+ North American model

Kits and dedicated units are available in 2 or 4-player models; It is not sold as a single. It also comes with a player kiosk which has to be connected to the internet for proper operation.

One other thing to expect soon from Bandai Namco – a new website. Stay tuned for that.

What’s your thoughts on this upgrade?
